Mike's interest in making gold nugget jewelry started back in the sixties in a high school silversmith class. The interest in gold nugget jewelry surfaced again in 1998 when the opportunity arose as a hobby. Gold-N-Treasures was inspired from the idea to sell items he had already made. Mike and Eileen decided to use only natural gold nuggets from Mother Earth, just the way you'd find them in nature.
Our search for the elusive yellow metal has taken us prospecting in Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Canada, and Alaska. We have met many wonderful people along the trail and have seen Mother Nature at her worst and at her best. Prospecting for gold has allowed us to pan, sluice, dowse, high-bank, dry wash, metal detect and dredge. We have removed from the environment lead, mercury, and trash (human made) and improved fish habitat in the streams and rivers we have dredged.
